It’s important to consider certain things, when you have to figure out what kind of gloves are fit for hand protection:
- sort of work and duration
- finger sensitivity
- grabbing abilities
- cut risks
- product protection
- chrome allergies or other kinds of allergies
- chemical resistance
- protection against heat or cold
- antistatic requirements
- requirements of sterility
In addition the user can have specific requirements. Therefore it might be a good idea to test the gloves before making a final decision in choice of product.
Gloves: Categories.
Categori 1: May only be used at low risk, for instance gardening, lighter assembly work, where you don’t handle materials which exceed a temperature of 50° centigrade etc. These gloves are not tested. The gloves only have to conform to EN 420 (General requirements for protective gloves)
Categori 2: Medium complicated construction, where there are medium risks of cuts, carves or heat that exceed a temperature of 50° centigrade. These gloves has to confirm to EN 388 (Mechanic risks) or EN 407 (Against thermal dangers, heat and fire, either exclusively or in some kind of combination of the two.
Categori 3: Complicated construction, for instance chemical gloves, and must be tested according to EN 374 by a notified body. This catergoy demands a control once a year.
