Thise At-announcement informs about protective helmets (head protection), where and when they are to be used and what demands there are for labelling etc. High temperature helmets (fire helmets), helmets for use in traffic, riding helmets, sport helmets or similar are not included in these directions. Use. Protective helmet is to be used if the work cannot be done safely in any other way. Protective helmet must always be used in work or stay at places where there is risk of head damage. If the helmet is combined with eye or hearing protection, which often is the case, the helmet must be designed for this extra equipment. Employers obligations. The employer has to make sure: - that the users are equipped with a suitable protective helmet that not causes unnecessary nuisances - that the helmet is used the beginning of the job and during the entire job - that the users are instructed in the use and are informed on the danger of not using a helmet - Instruction must include adjustment, -- maintenance and storage of the helmet - maintenance and cleaning of the helmet The user’s duties. The user must use protective helmet at the beginning of the job and during the entire duration of the job. The user must assist in making sure that the equipment works as intended and report flaws and shortcomings to the employer and safety organization. Labelling and safety demands. The CE-label Protective helmets must fulfil the essential safety and health demands in the announcement on safety demands for personal safety products. All safety helmets and parts, which have influence on that the safety product works, must be CE-labelled. Direction for use. The supplier must make sure that Danish directions for use always follow a delivery. Durability. Qualities of the materials can be influenced by long term exposure to cold, heat, moisture, bright light, sweat or remedies used on the skin or in the hair. Or by using unqualified products for cleaning. Information on the qualities of the helmet after long term use is available at the supplier.
